I’m really enjoying kumihimo, it’s very systematic, like weaving, but much faster to set up than weaving. You also get to keep all finished work in sight, which is another advantage. I still love weaving, but really enjoy kumihimo as well. I’ve learned that making silk kumihimo cord feels lovely as well. The silk sliding through your fingers is very theraputic. The lush feeling of silk on the hands makes the world seem a better place. The click clack of the bobbins rapping each other as you go is also very soothing. The methodic nature of process is wonderful. Kumihimo is a gloriously fast process as well. I’ve made about 18′ of cord in perhaps six hours.
